Overlooked Realms in Your Account Engagement

, ,

Have you ever found yourself in the situation of acquiring a new decor item, perhaps a striking piece of artwork that initially captivates your attention each time you walk by? Over time, however, that very same artwork seems to fade into the background, no longer grabbing your focus every time you pass by? The very same thing can happen as we become accustomed to our Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (aka Pardot) org.

Much like that overlooked artwork, certain aspects of our Marketing Cloud Account Engagement instance can quietly slip into the background as we navigate our daily tasks. In the spirit of ensuring we don’t unintentionally overlook crucial details, let’s embark on an exploration of three key areas within your org that may be quietly vying for your attention.

These are the elements that, much like that once-eye-catching artwork, might be fading from the forefront of your awareness, but are integral to the overall aesthetic and functionality of your marketing strategy.

So, let’s peel back the layers and shine a spotlight on these often overlooked aspects to ensure your Pardot org is not just part of the scenery but a dynamic and optimized hub for your marketing success.

1. Field Sync Settings

When it comes to keeping your data game strong, it’s important to check out those Salesforce field sync settings in your Account Engagement org. This is the ultimate control panel for data management – you get to decide how each field syncs between Salesforce and Account Engagement.

  • Want Salesforce’s data? You got it.
  • Prefer Account Engagement’s info? No problem.
  • Or maybe you’re all about that latest and greatest update? Sure thing!

It’s like having a control panel at your fingertips, making sure the right moves happen at just the right times. So, give those sync settings a little peek – it’s like giving your data the perfect choreography for a smooth performance!

Check out this help article for more information on what each sync setting means.

2. Salesforce Connector Errors

Now, here’s a little-known spot that’s actually pretty crucial. If a record doesn’t sync smoothly from Account Engagement to Salesforce, it takes a pit stop in the error queue. There, it leaves a little note explaining why it failed to sync. So, keeping an eye on this queue and its error messages is key. The error messages allow you to quickly diagnose the issue, fix it, and trigger resync of the impacted records.

One classic error message you might come across is about dropdown field values not matching with the options available in Account Engagement. But fear not – fixing this is often a breeze! Navigate to the troublesome field’s settings page and edit it to ensure all the options you need are syncing over to your instance by checking the box to the left of each value. Just like that, you’ll have fixed the issue.

3. Repeating Automation Rules

Let’s give those repeating automation rules a bit of a once-over. Check if they’re letting people through the gate too frequently, maybe even on a daily basis.

Here’s a handy diagnostic tip: look at the numbers up top. One shows how many individual records kicked off the rule, while the other adds up every time the rule triggers (and yes, it can trigger more than once for a single record). If there’s a big gap between these two numbers, it’s like a signal that the logic might need a tune-up.

For instance, let’s say you set up a rule for sending birthday wishes once a year. The total run count shouldn’t be five or six times the unique Prospect count. If it is, it’s like the rule’s on a bit of an overdrive. Time to adjust that logic and keep things ticking along smoothly!

It’s easy for certain aspects of our tools, like the captivating artwork in our homes, to fade into the background. Yet, as we’ve unraveled the layers within your Account Engagement (Pardot) org, we’ve discovered that even the seemingly overlooked realms hold the key to unlocking success.

By peeling back these layers, we ensure that your org isn’t just a part of the scenery but a dynamic and optimized hub for your marketing success. So, let’s continue to refine our choreography, fix those artistic nuances, and keep the rhythm of our marketing dance in perfect harmony.
